Challenges We Face

Hispanic Diaspora

How do I become a sponsor?

Why go to college?

Dear Community,

The Inland Empire Scholarship Fund was founded in 1998 based on a vision to strengthen the Inland Empire by advancing college education among Hispanic Americans, the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. population. As César Chávez once said, "The end of all education should surely be service to others." This embodies the philosophy of the IESF.

Californian Hispanics face the new millennia with some concern for the following reasons:

  • The national drop-out rate for Hispanics is 35%, higher than any other ethnic group in the United States.

  • 80% of Hispanic students never attend college or university.

  • For every Hispanic student in college, there are three Hispanics in prison.

  • U.S. born children of Hispanic immigrants are nearly as likely as non-Hispanic Anglos to enroll in college, but less than half as likely to earn bachelor's degrees.

In spite of these harsh realities, we also approach the future with immense hope, because we know that we can change this course through a positive, concerted community effort. Investing in our young people today will benefit our entire community tomorrow. Give our youth an opportunity that without your support could not be possible.

We, the board of directors of the Inland Empire Scholarship Fund, invite you to support this endeavor. Join us in realizing the promise held within the minds and spirits of our Hispanic youth.

Working together for a better future,

The IESF Board
